I really don’t know how to start my story.

I was born and raised in a small town in Italy. I have always found sending letters fascinating. I think it is one of the best ways to keep in touch with people, to read pieces of paper that could be nothing, but can become something making you smile or crying tears of joy as much as of pain.

I remember when I attended the second grade twelve years ago. My class was full of many children I loved, but one child was special than others. If I had been older at the time, I could have said I loved him (love for a person you are attracted to). It was the first time I had defended someone so lovingly in case something happened.

When we attended the fourth grade, he moved to the Marche, more than 550 km from where I lived. I still loved him even more than all the other children. On a beautiful spring day, while I was getting into my house after a school day I noticed my mother with a piece of paper in her hand. It almost looked like a letter, and so it was.

That letter was for me, sent by my dear friend whom I loved so much.

From that day on we continued to exchange letters.

The best thing about all this, besides the thrill of receiving something from the postman, was finding in a corner of my room a box full of letters that I had almost forgotten after lots of years, letters that have continued to give me joy and happiness even after so many years.

I hope that Slowly can make people who haven’t been enough lucky to exchange paper letters with the people they loved feel this emotion as well, although the people they loved have moved. Technology and the desire to stay connected can take over.

I have only been on Slowly for a very short time, but reliving such an experience once again makes my day happier.

Using technology for such a beautiful thing is something fantastic.

Thanks Slowly
